For the past 24 years, CAPP has collaborated with the New York City Department of Education and Joshua Marquez, their Citywide Coordinator for Child Abuse and Neglect, to establish and maintain a program that provides professionals with the most timely and innovative methods for the prevention of child abuse. CAPP is a NYC Department of Education contracted provider of services.
The curriculum includes discussion of sexual abuse perpetrated on the internet, effective methods for handling abuse disclosure statements from children and offers training in the specific interview skills that have proven most successful when gathering information to make a report to Child Protective Services.
In addition, attendance at the training establishes eligibility for your school to receive a CAPP Child Safety Workshop. This award-winning workshop utilizes life-size puppets to teach children the necessary skills to recognize, resist and report instances of abuse and neglect.

CAPP's Train the Trainer Workshop for Parent Coordinators
New this year, CAPP is offering a
Train the Trainer Workshop for Parent Coordinators working in elementary schools. The training will provide Parent Coordinators with information on child abuse laws in New York State, sexual abuse indicators and effects, and Internet Safety. Each Parent Coordinator will leave with a curriculum that includes information, resource packets, and activities to enable them to conduct Parent Workshops in their own schools.
CAPP will provide consultation with Parent Coordinators before and after they hold their parent workshops on an as-needed basis.
CAPP is a NYC DOE approved vendor. By participating in this workshop and sharing the information with the parents in their school, Parent Coordinators in NYC DOE schools will be satisfying the Chancellor's Regulation A-750 (Child Abuse Prevention), Section V.B., regarding "Parent Participation".
The Train the Trainer Workshop for Parent Coordinators has been underwritten in part by Hedge Funds Care and is offered to participants free of charge.
